The 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner was the most expensive vehicle offered by Ford. With its retractable hardtop roof, the Skyliner sold for $3,163 while the standard convertible sold for $2,650 and the sedan went for $2,055. It also weighed in at a hefty 4609 pounds.

1959 Skyliner Galaxie

In the 1959 model year, the Galaxie series was added to Ford’s full-size lineup and the Skyliner model was absorbed into that series. It was the last model year for the retractable hardtop roof design.
