The original Lincoln Continental was built in 1939 to be Edsel Ford’s personal car, and was never intended for production. The car became an instant classic, however, and 5322 Continentals were built until manufacturing ceased in 1948.

Even after production stopped, the Continental’s popularity and demand remained strong, with people clamoring for its return. Part one of this rarely seen 1955 Ford film takes you back to 1952, when work began on designing an all-new Continental Mark II.
