Here’s some excellent photos of a gorgeous 1920 Mercer Series 5 Raceabout we recently came across!

Known for exceptional performance, Mercers were designed to go from the showroom floor directly to the race track without any modifications, and this Raceabout was no exception.

Some of the special features of this vintage car include a 298 CID L-Head inline 4-cylinder engine with a four-speed gearbox that produced 72 HP at 2,000 rpm.

We think you are going to enjoy these pics, especially if you are a Mercer Raceabout enthusiast. Take a look and see if you agree with us.

The Raceabout was the most popular Mercer model. The Murphy body on this 1920 Mercer Series 5 Raceabout features manually-tilting headlamps, a full-width windshield and extended cowl.

Other features include slightly offset bucket-type seats, and twin spare tires mounted in back. It was also equipped with 2-wheel mechanical drum brakes with a foot brake on the driveshaft, as well as live-axle suspension with semi-elliptical leaf springs and shock absorbers.

Racing legends like Barney Oldfield, Eddie Pullen and Ralph DePalma each raced Mercers during their careers.

4,000 Mercers built with the L-head engine, of which only about 60 are known to still exist today.

Well, did you like the photos? I truly hope so!

My name is Greg. I’m the founder of this blog, and my entire objective for having constructed https://OldCarNutz.com is to share loads of great pictures and vids of some of my favorite classic cars. And that’s really it. That’s why I’m here now.

Well, perhaps that’s not the only reason for my doing this…

Okay, before we begin, I wanna cop to something. To be honest, my own selfish desires are really to thank for this site having been created. You see, I deeply enjoy videos and pictures of classic cars (like the 1920 Mercer Series 5 Raceabout photos you just took a look at), and I honestly just wanted a place where I could house all of my favorites under one roof.

Of course, I do see this as something of an opportunity, as well. Not gonna lie.

I don’t see anything wrong with earning a little money from sponsorships and product recommendations. I hope you don’t either.

The point is, this site does provide me with a small income. But listen… Sales pitches suck, they’re not my style, and making money is not my key motivator for running this blog. If something being offered on my site appeals to you, perfect! But if you’re not interested, then I won’t lose any sleep. Your readership is what I’m really after.

I’m just cool with watching and sharing pictures and videos of classic cars with like-minded people!

And that’s the purpose that OldCarNutz.com serves. It’s really just a place for people who care about vintage cars to get together and watch some cool videos and check out some cool pics. If you appreciate that, awesome! I hope to see you again.

So be sure to keep on coming back! I’m just gonna continue sharing top-notch pics and vids that cover all sorts of vintage cars, hot rods, muscle cars… and more.
