The 12 Classic Cars Men Love Most

Shelby 427 Cobra Super Snake

Source

The Super Snake Cobra was built back in 1966 with a 427 Dual Paxton supercharged engine capable of 800+ horsepower. In a 1968 feature article, Road & Track magazine called it the “Cobra to End All Cobras”.

Only two Shelby 427 Cobra Super Snakes were ever built. Carroll Shelby kept one for himself, the other unfortunately, was wrecked and destroyed.

Carroll Shelby’s personal 1966 Cobra “Super Snake” sold at auction for a record $5 million dollars in 2007. There are, of course, other models of the 427 Cobra built between 1963 – 1965 in small quantities. Clearly, you won’t find one of these on the low end of the price scale.
